My favorite book character as a child was the Pokey Little Puppy for when I was VERY young, remember those Little Golden Books? When I was a little older I used to love Jessi Ramsey from The Baby-Sitter's Club, although she was not Latina, I was able to relate to her the most during my awkward tween years.

I had so many favourite books, that I don't know how I could ever pick just one favourite childhood character… Hmmm… I loved Ramona Quimby, Anastasia Krumpnik, Anne Shirley, Heidi, but… I would have to say that Laura Ingalls Wilder was the ultimate. I wanted to be a homesteading, farm girl and wore those pig-tails for almost two years! LOL!

It's so tough to choose just one, but maybe Miranda Melendy from the Melendy series by Elizabeth Enright. She was spunky and independent without being nasty, and I wished I had her talent for art.
