Last week, a new website focusing on today’s Latina women was launched. New Latina was created by Angelica Perez-Litwin, a psychologist and blogger of Dominican-descent, to break the stereotypes perpetuated in the media and redefining who is today’s Latina. To achieve this goal, New Latina presents inspiring success stories of Latinas across different career, professional and creative endeavors, via videos, interviews and posts.
New Latina also promotes ongoing conversations among Latinas about issues that support and resonate Latinas’ professional and professional lives. Conversations take place through posted content on the website and social networks (Facebook andTwitter).
The overall mission of New Latina is to bring together a community of Latinas that will reflect a more accurate portrayal of who were are today, and create a portfolio of our wholeness — the personal, professional and creative. The website is part of The New Latina Project, a year long national study on Latina women.
Submissions of inspiring videos, photographs, poetry and essays are highly encouraged. Businesses and blogs by Latinas are also promoted for free.
